Local chapter of The Cure Starts Now
continues the fight in honor of Alyson Usher.
Perryopolis, PA | July 25, 2019 – The Western Pennsylvania Chapter of The Cure Starts Now is hosting the 2019 Drive for the Cure golf scramble Sunday, August 18th, at Linden Hall Golf Course in Dawson, PA. Proceeds from the scramble, and accompanying silent auction, honor the memory of Alyson Nicole Usher.
Alyson was a Perryopolis five-year-old who, in November of 2011, was diagnosed with DIPG (Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma), a fatal brain cancer with no effective treatment, and was given six to nine months to live. Alyson battled back for a year, finally resting in November 2012. Her journey and sweet courage will never be forgotten.
The format for the 2019 Drive for the Cure is a 4-person scramble starting at 10:00 am, followed by steak dinner and silent auction. Sponsorship opportunities to support the fundraising efforts to beat this bully of childhood cancers are also available. The Western Pennsylvania Chapter of The Cure Starts Now was formed in memory of Alyson Usher. The Cure Starts Now (501c3 Federal Non-Profit) is one of the only cancer foundations dedicated to finding the Homerun Cure for all cancers, starting first with one of the most deadly and difficult cancers: pediatric brain cancer. Many experts believe that the lessons learned from specifically fighting pediatric cancer provide the initial steps in winning the battle against all forms of cancer, both pediatric and adult.
Drive for the Cure golf outings have generated over $149,000 since 2015. Thanks to the efforts and support of individuals and companies around the world through events like the 2019 Drive for the Cure, The Cure Starts Now has funded over $12,000,000 in research grants.
