West Sixth Brewing and Stagnaro Distributing are set to make a donation of $3,392 to The Cure Starts Now Foundation on August 13 through the West Sixth “Pay It Forward” program. By purchasing The Pay it Forward Cocoa Porter, West Sixth donates 50 cents for every 6-pack sold to a nominated charity of choice. The Cure Starts Now was the charity of choice during the second quarter of 2015 for the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky region, where 3,392 6-packs were sold equating in a donation of $1,696. Stagnaro Distributing generously agreed to match the donation, resulting in an overall donation of $3,392.
To celebrate these efforts, the public is invited to join West Sixth, Stagnaro and The Cure Starts Now at on August 13 from 5-7 PM for the "Pay It Forward" Celebration and Fundraiser at the Dewey's Pizza at Harper’s Point. At 5:30 PM, West Sixth and Stagnaro will present a check with the sum of their donations to The Cure Starts Now.
Dewey's will have three West Sixth beers on tap (Cocoa Porter, Lemongrass American Wheat, and West Sixth IPA) that evening and will donate 6% of sales of those beers to The Cure Starts Now. In addition, Dewey's is donating 6% of Cocoa Porter sales across all of its locations for the evening. The public is encouraged to eat and drink West Sixth at any of the Dewey's locations on August 13, especially the Harper’s Point location.
The Cure Starts Now Foundation (501c3 Federal Non-Profit) is one of the only cancer foundations dedicated to a “homerun” cure for all cancers, starting first with one of the most deadly and difficult cancers: pediatric brain cancer. Many experts believe that the lessons we learn from fighting pediatric brain cancer may in fact provide us the critical first step in winning the battle against all forms of cancer, both pediatric and adult. Originally started in 2007 in tribute to 6-year-old Elena Desserich and her fight against brain cancer, The Cure Starts Now has funded over $2.8 million in research, awareness and programs in just 8 short years.
