GRANDFATHER FRANK LAFOUNTAIN CONTINUES THE FIGHT IN HONOR OF HIS GRANDDAUGHTER, MCKENZIE LOWE.

Hudson, NH | September 6, 2019 – The Southern New Hampshire Chapter of The Cure Starts Now is hosting the 2019 Drive for the Cure golf scramble Friday, September 13th, at Overlook Golf Club, Hollis, NH. Proceeds from the golf tournament, and accompanying raffles and sports memorabilia auction, honor the memory of McKenzie Lowe.

McKenzie was a Hudson eleven-year-old who, in November of 2012, was diagnosed with DIPG (Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma), a fatal brain cancer with no effective treatment. She bravely fought for 23 months. Her grandfather, Frank LaFountain, describes McKenzie and her battle, ”McKenzie was the bravest person I have ever known. She fought like a champion during her battle with DIPG, as all the brave children have in the past and who are at this moment fighting for their lives.

“This disease needs to be wiped out and we should not stop until it is.”

Frank has organized the Drive for the Cure fundraisers since 2017 and runs the Southern New Hampshire Chapter of The Cure Starts Now.

The format for the 2019 Drive for the Cure on Friday morning; registration, continental breakfast, raffles, and auctions open at 8:00, shotgun start for 18 holes at 9:00 am, auction and raffle prizes announced at noon. There are also special events and prizes out on the course-- closest to the pin, longest drive, ace, and buy a mulligan. Special prizes are available to any golfer who finds a #McKenzieRocks during play and turns in the find with their scorecard. Sponsorship opportunities to support the fundraising efforts to beat this bully of childhood cancers are available.  More information, including online registration, can be found at csnevents.org/driveforthecure-nh .
