The Cure Starts Now raises over $226,000 through online fundraising campaign targeted at social giving.

On Giving Tuesday, November 27th, 2018, The Cure Starts Now hosted a four-hour-long Facebook Live Give-a-thon as the culmination of the week-long 100 Families Strong campaign. This campaign brought together both current and past families that have been directly impacted by DIPG to unite under a single cause: to raise funds for pediatric brain cancer research – determined to make sure no other family would have to face the same diagnosis.

By the beginning of the live broadcast, supporters had already raised over $80,000. The live broadcast highlighted advancements in research that CSN has helped fund and showcased programs offered, like DIPG Warrior. Corporate partnership with companies like Graeter’s and Allstate were presented, and stories from chapter directors who have faced DIPG first-hand were also featured. By the end of the broadcast an additional $90,000 had been raised through Facebook and other online sources. Overnight, an additional $30,000 was raised. By week's end, the campaign had raised over $226,000.

The impact of that day is still being felt, with at least two families finding inspiration from the event. Since the Giving Tuesday, Sarah Carlton has started the Illinois chapter in honor of her daughter, Makanda Williams, and Ken and Michelle Oehmen have started the Somerset, Massachusetts chapter in honor of their daughter, Selina.
