In honor and celebration of Karen Nukui

My daughter Karen was born on November 13th, 2004.

She was full of curiosity and loved ballet and anything sparkly.  She loved singing and dancing, and I remember her always singing with her mouth wide open at her kindergarten choir recitals.

When she was five years old, she was diagnosed with an illness that gradually made it harder for her to move.  At first, she worked hard with chemotherapy and rehabilitation, and she recovered to the point where she could walk normally.

The doctors said it was a miracle.  After that, she got worse again and started radiation therapy. I think this is very hard treatment for a child, but she was able to receive it without wearing a fixed mask and without moving.  The treatment went well and she recovered again. She was able to go on trips to the beach and Disneyland, etc.  My daughter had a lot of vitality, and despite her small body, she fought the disease to the bitter end. She was a wonderful daughter.  I am proud of her, and from now on, I want to make the most of what Karen taught me.  I believe that this will lead to her existence remaining here forever.
