Mattix was diagnosed in June of 2019 at just 4 months old with a Pilocytic Astrocytoma. He lived within Cincinnati Childrens Pediatric Oncology unit for about 5 months trying to find the correct regimen that was going to help him best. He isn’t on a traditional chemo but what is called a MEK Inhibitor. It acts as an on/off switch for his tumor as it’s due to a specific gene.

He completed his first 2 years of the treatment and got to come off the MEK Inhibitor in November of 21 and was considered in Remission as of January of 22. Mattix was only in remission for a few months before a new spot grew on his brain and had to immediately jump back into the same treatment.

Mattix is a very sweet and very smart little 4 year old despite all his setbacks.
