The Cure Starts Now's Tribute Funds

Mason Moore's Fundraiser

Mason was a silly, fun, playful, creative and vibrant 6-year old. He was smart and had more common sense than the average adult. He loved music, tae kwon do, riding his golf cart, going to the pool, jumping on the couch, playing with his friends, and trips to the beach and lake. He had the best time just being at home and cutting loose with his parents. They would turn the lights off, break out the glow sticks, crank up the music and dance until they all gave out.

Mason was positive, and if something bad happened he would find the good in it, always pointing out that it could be worse. He kept this wonderful attitude even during the time he was sick and battling his disease. He was resilient and bounced back from many hard things, always giving his mommy and daddy that perfect smile when it was over. He made his parents so proud, day after day.

Mason had his first headache on February 2nd. As days went on, he had more headaches and soon began vomiting randomly. He continued to get sicker and on February 16th a CT scan revealed a tumor in his cerebellum. He was rushed to another hospital where he had an MRI followed by a 5-hour brain surgery. Just four days later he was diagnosed with medulloblastoma. After that things progressed extremely quick. Between his diagnosis and October Mason had multiple surgeries, numerous procedures, 6-weeks of proton radiation (with a low dose chemo), and finally 5-months of high dose chemo. Mason was a champ through it all, his spirits stayed high and his body fought so incredibly hard. Unfortunately the disease did not response to all of the treatment. Mason gained his angel wings on November 6th at home, with his mommy and daddy holding him and telling him how much they loved him.

Jesus said, “I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full” (John 10:10). He didn’t say an easy life. He didn’t say a self-indulgent life where all our wishes are granted. He didn’t say a life free from pain. But he did say a full life. One of joy, peace, love and hope. It’s not only possible – it’s promised. We can see this reflected in Mason’s life. Although it was way too short, he had an extremely full life and was loved, cared for and was always comforted from the moment he woke up to the time he closed his eyes at the end of each day. His parents' world revolved about their precious son.

We know when God talks about tough places, the words used are temporary. In particular, God uses the word through again and again. For example, the Israelites passed through the Red sea. They passed through the desert. They eventually passed through the Jordan and into the Promised Land. And Mason passed through his tough time. We find peace and comfort knowing that he is now fully restored. He is whole and no longer suffering. He is in Heaven, with Jesus, probably having a dance party.

Mason gave his parents the best years of their lives. They feel so blessed and thank God that they were able to borrow His angel for 7-years.

"Research is important to me because children are young, their life is just beginning.  Kids are the future.  What better investment is there?"- Jamie Moore, Mason's Mom.
