Marshall was 10 years old when he was diagnosed in March of 2021.  During his battle, he never once complained. He had a love for the Seahawks and Chris Pratt. He sadly laid down his sword at 12 years old on September 17, 2023, after battling for 2.5 years.

From Marshall's father, David, "I believe more funding is important because with limited trials we exhausted everything we could try to save our son and with more funding it would expand the limited options available to families with this evil disease. Marshall was a very sweet, innocent and bright young man who would’ve had a bright and promising future if not for DIPG. More research and funding is needed so another innocent child will not have to go through what our child had to go through."
