Maeleigh was diagnosed her freshman year the day before Thanksgiving on this very day of 2020. 

Maeleigh’s story is so long (like others in this situation) it’s too long to tell here.   After brain surgery, she had PFS. We we were not sure if she’s walk, write or smile normally again. This was heartbreaking because she loved playing tennis so much and as she was determined to play varsity.   

We didn’t have access to PT in our town because of covid.  The wait was long and frustrating.  So we did it ourselves.  We are not trained in the medical profession but we did our best to work on PT and fortunately she did receive PT while we lived in STL for radiation. 

After radiation, chemo was the hardest of all.  She was gaining her balance but also losing her strength. 

She kept on!  

It’s been a hell ride but I’m happy to you that this month she is 2 years cancer free, stable MRI! She maintained on spot on the tennis team, not varsity, but after a journey like that you find to take your blessings as they come. In addition, she was inducted into National Honors Society. 

She plans to attend Missouri State University to study Education.
