Our daughter MaCollin's journey started back in November of 2023 when we started noticing lessening use of her left arm.  Over the course of December, we saw many doctors and pushed for answers as to why we were seeing loss muscle tone, weakness in her left arm, curling of her fingers, and a shoulder blade that was sticking out of her back.  After pushing for a month plus, we finally got in to see a neurology doctor that agreed something was very wrong and admitted her to Children's hospital right away for an MRI.  After the MRI was completed, we were informed that she had a very large tumor in her spinal cord and the base of her brain stem.  It had been compressing her nerves not allowing feeling in the left side of her body.  After an 8+ hour surgery to remove the tumor, we were informed that unfortunately not all of the tumor was able to be removed even though a large amount was. She is now taking a targeted chemotherapy to help stop the continual growth of the remaining tumor.  The part of the tumor that was not able to be removed is near her brain stem which is such a crucial part of the brain and the body's functions.  The  doctors we met while at Children's Hospital were all amazed at how well she was functioning prior to her diagnosis since the size and location of the tumor should have been causing more significant issues.  We will continue to push for answers, fight against cancer, and fight for our daughter's life.  She is the strongest, most determined, and bravest 4 year old we have ever met, continuing to conquer milestones in her recovery from surgery!
