On September 20, 2022, we were given the devastating news that Lailah was diagnosed with a grade 4 brain tumor that was located within her brainstem. On that day, we were informed that the type of brain cancer Lailah had was DIPG, which is a rare and highly aggressive form of brain cancer that currently has no cure.  Due to the tumor's location, it was inoperable, and we had limited resources to save her. However, we were determined to fight despite the odds that were against us.

Lailah exuded strength, endurance, and perseverance from the start of her cancer-fighting journey. She never once complained; instead, she encouraged and inspired those around her. Lailah was wise and strong-willed; she voiced her opinions and preferences regarding her treatment and was willing to think outside the box. Lailah never lost her passion for living, traveling, education, or working on and accomplishing her life goals. Spending meaningful and fun times with family is what gave her the most joy. Her passion for cooking and baking showed through her smiles as she cooked and prepared meals for her loved ones. Lailah used every opportunity to express her love for others through her cooking.

Lailah's strength throughout her battle against cancer inspired the definition "Lailah Strong." It represents supernatural strength transcended into physical power, remarkable resilience, and extraordinary courage in the face of extreme adversity, which is precisely what Lailah embodied and encouraged those around her to obtain. 

Lailah gained her angel wings on February 14, 2024, and became forever 12. Through Lailah's fight against cancer, Lailah showed the world how to live life Lailah Strong no matter what you're facing.
